Home Training Alumni Teams Madness Tourneys MVSA Board

MVSA is going to hold tryouts for the fall 2019/spring 2020 season on August 12th and 13th at Rice Creek Fields in Shoreview. This is for all 16u, 14u, and 12u players that are interested in the SELECT teams. In addition, those interested in the Stampede program will also tryout at the same time. A $25 non refundable tryout fee will be collected the night of tryouts. For those players not interested in trying out for a select team your attendance is not required. You will still get placed on a roster as in years past.

Monday August 12th:

     4:00-6:00 14u

     6:00-8:00 16u

Tuesday August 13th:

4:00-6:00 pitchers and catchers (all ages)

      6:00-8:00 12u

Please check back to this website as times are subject to change

All 10u players will have evaluations on Wednesday August 14. We don’t have a Select team at this level, however these evaluations will help with team formation. These evaluations are not mandatory but highly recommended. There is no cost to this evaluation.

The reason for moving our tryouts to the fall is to get a more defined tryout outside vs in a gym. Secondly, gym time is getting harder and harder to secure. This also gives us an opportunity for our Select teams to play and practice through out the winter.

Should you have any further questions or concerns please contact Nate Urfer at or (612) 203-2495.

The Stampede is a select softball program that provides an opportunity for competitive players looking to continue to develop their skills year round, which will allow them to take their game to the next level.  We will provide the very best year round training and play against the highest level of competition, at a much lower cost than traditional club teams.  Last season we fielded a 16u team. This year our intention is to field a 14u, 16u team.

For the MVSA family that does not yet wish to pursue the more intensive softball experience that the Stampede will offer, the traditional MVSA team experience at the 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U levels will continue to be available to players living or going to school in the Mounds View district for a very affordable registration fee, (most recently $210 for summer 2018 registrations).

Tryouts will be Monday August 12th at Rice Creek Park. All interested players must be registered on the MVSA website.  A $25 tryout fee will be collected the evening of tryouts. If you’re unable to attend tryouts or if you have any other questions please contact Nate Urfer at or (612) 203-2495.
